And now for something different...Guild Ball
I recently picked up Guild Ball and a Butcher's team. They've all been built and primed, and I'm slowly moving forward with painting them. First up is the team mascot, the vicious pit bull Princess...

Henchman Hardcore Tournament, 1/29/16
I polished up my new Wyrd Games Henchman badge until it gleamed like the putrid green light emanating from Nythera and organized the very first tournament in my local meta. We played Henchman Hardcore Empire Games in Mesa, Arizona with 8 participants (including myself as a ringer):

Drugs and Bad Dreams
I finally finished assembly of all the Neverborn stuff I purchased last year so that I could start playing with the tiny Dreamer crew that I've own since before I played Malifaux. I always loved the Nightmare edition of Lord Chompy Bits, and I had the oppertunity to pick one up a couple of years back. It was a package deal with several other M1E models that included LCB, Dreamer, 3 Daydreams, 6 Alps, and Coppi.
After I started playing Leviticus I took a look at Dreamer's rules and found them interesting, but at that point buying Nightmares for him was next to impossible. Enter Black Friday 2015. I picked up Lelu and Lilitu and some Insidious Madness during the sales (having previously gotten my hands on Widow Weaver and several versions of Teddy). The sale of the LE models from Black Friday enabled me to pickup some non-nightmare models to use with Dreamer. I really wanted some Beckoners and Illuminated...so I ended up buying Lynch, Beckoners, Illuminated, Graves, Tannen, and some Depleted. Funny how often you wind up playing a new master when purchasing models for a Master you already have. Wyrd certainly now how to package their stuff to encourage cross-master play.
Anyway, what follows is my next project. First the Dreamer stuff I purchased together. They came painted, and I'm not certain if I am going to repaint them or not (though I am leaning towards not). On to the pics!

Indiana Jones and The Ashen Core
Ashen Core has always reminded me of some horrible artifact that Indian Jones is trying to keep away from the Nazis, who inevitably have their faces melted off when the finally get it. That said, the model was a breeze to paint, though I broke the spindly little plastic forearm that holds the skull twice. I am a bit concerned that it isn't going to hold up well to the abuses of play. If it brakes again I'll just have to replace one of the arm bones with a brass rod.
Anyway, here are the pics...
HABOOB!!!
Holiday vacation painting continues with one of the Ashes & Dust triumvirate: Dust Storm (2e version). This guy is all smooth folds, as if he is made of giant cloaks, and doesn't look very dusty at all. I remedied that by applying a thin layer of liquid green stuff all over him to provide a rougher texture. Anyway, I'm fairly happy with the results.

Golden Space Clock
I was bit skeptical when Wyrd announced that their 10th anniversary miniature, Aionus, was going to be made in PVC plastic. As it turns out the model had all the issues that I expected: shallow detail (compared to other Wyrd offerings) and hard to clean mold lines. That said, he cleaned up well enough and I really like the sculpt. I like him enough that I will probably pickup the hard plastic version when he get a general release.
Inspired by something I saw on Facebook, in the A Wyrd Place group, I decided to try and make Aionus look like he was fading in and out of space and time. Here are the pics:

Viktoria of Ashes
Started on my Hired Swords crew that I picked up second hand. They were all glued to bases already, and off center to boot, so I had to be a little creative. The bases on Viks could be better, but I'm not going to sweat it too much - I only paid $15.00 for the crew (thanks to the Wyrd Trade group on Facebook) so if I have to deal with wonky bases it's fine by me.
I made my first attempt at wet blending on the back of Viktoria's jacket. Didn't turn out great, but it isn't horrible. Luckily I have four Ronin to practice on. All in all I am happy with the model, but I probably like the Mid-Nor Dwarf (from Confrontation) bit I used as a Neverborn trophy more than Viks herself.

Freikorps Complete, Plus Hans
As my vacation comes to a close I've managed to meet my painting goal of finishing off my Freikorps models. I also managed to finish up Hans. Up next is my Viktoria crew, plus Vanessa. Now on to the pictures...

Teddy Complete
Finished up my second Teddy this weekend. That's good for my Dreamer crew...but it's even better for my Leviticus crew. I plan on pairing my Teddy's up with Mechanical Rider, or more precisely the Metal Gamin that my Mechanical Rider summons. The Metal Gamin can give Teddy a DF or 6, which is bad news for whomever I am playing...
Anyway...on to the pics!
Front. I'm not at all happy with the bow, but I'm leaving it for now. All the other plastic soldiers in the pile are demanding that I get to them.

AAR: Friday Night Malifaux, 8/7/15
Friday night match ups:
Jason ran The Judge, Francisco, Austringer, and Death Marshall.
Darrell ran Widow Weaver, Coppelius, and two Stitched Together.
Jason deployed first and took up a good position with the Death Marshall and Francisco hiding behind the walls of a ruined building, the Austringer in the middle with a sight line to the turf war marker, and the Judge off to right field behind some crystals.

Hannah WIP
I recently picked up my second large batch of models. This time around I added the Hired Guns crew box, Hannah, a Strongarm, Hans, Johan, and a Teddy (for my Dreamer and Leviticus crews). They've all been assembled and now I've begun work on painting them up.

Malifaux City Terrain Build Diary
For the past six weeks or so I've been working on a project to create a Malifaux City terrain board. The first step, the boards themselves, are basically done besides sealing them. I'm on to terrain to put on the boards next.
Prior to launching this blog I was chronicling my build process over on the Wyrd forums. Day to day updates will still be posted there, while milestones will posted both here on the blog and in the forums.
Now on to pics of the boards....
